Why we exist, and how we work

Meet our Founder & CEO

Lucia, Founder of Family Support Coalition, at a training session

María Lucía Barbeyto, MA, BCBA®, IBA®

Maria Lucia, also known as Lucia, is the Founder and CEO of Family Support Coalition. What began as a vision has grown into a collective effort led by an extraordinary team united by one shared purpose: ensuring that no family walks the disability journey alone. Together, they are building pathways to support, knowledge, community, and opportunity for every family caring for an individual with a disability or developmental differences.

As the mother of a son with autism level 3 and intractable epilepsy, Lucía experienced firsthand the gaps in access, guidance, and quality support for children with developmental differences and their families. What began as a search for answers became a lifelong commitment to advocacy, education, and building better systems for families like hers.

Determined to create change, Lucía deepened her expertise in behavior analysis and early childhood education, becoming an international behavior analyst and positive behavior support specialist, while actively serving in leadership and advocacy roles across Florida's disability community
