Building communities where disability belongs
Family Support Coalition

Belonging is built, not granted
True inclusion happens when people with disabilities are not just *present* in a community, but expected, welcomed and missed when absent. That shift — from access to belonging — is the work of everyday neighbours, teachers and local leaders.
Three practices that change everything
- Ask first. The people who know what they need are the people who live it. Co-design programs *with* disabled members, not for them. - Make the ordinary accessible. Belonging grows in birthday parties, sports teams and coffee shops — not only in clinics. Accessible everyday spaces matter most. - Share power. Inclusion lasts when disabled people sit on the boards, lead the workshops and shape the budgets.
A community that includes disability becomes a stronger community for everyone.
