Early Detection & Intervention

When concerns are caught early, families can act early. Trusted screenings, clear milestones and warm guidance — every step of the way.

WHY EARLY MATTERS

The first years of life shape lifelong learning, behavior and health. The earlier a developmental difference is identified, the more effective the support can be — and the more confident caregivers feel.

Our Early Detection & Intervention program helps families notice signs early, access free screenings, and connect with the right next step — without getting lost in a maze of services.

Knowing what to expect at each age helps caregivers act with confidence. Browse milestones by age and download the official CDC checklist.

We use evidence-based milestone checklists aligned with the CDC's “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” program. Pick an age, see the highlights, and download the full checklist to share with your pediatrician.

What you can do today

  • Open Milestones by Age
  • Compare your child's skills
  • Talk to your pediatrician with the checklist in hand

A short, validated screening can give clarity in minutes. We use the M-CHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers), the most widely used early screening tool.

If the result suggests further evaluation, we walk with you through the next steps — from contacting your pediatrician to connecting you with Early Steps Florida.
