From Chaos to Understanding™

Understand Behavior. Regain Calm. Build New Skills.

What is FCTU™?

Practical, Evidence-Based Strategies for Parents, Caregivers, Educators, and Early Childhood Professionals

Supporting a child's development takes more than good intentions. Whether you're a parent, teacher, therapist, caregiver, or early childhood professional, understanding behavior is one of the most valuable skills you can develop.

FCTU™ (From Chaos to Understanding™) is a series of practical behavior support sessions designed for the people supporting a child's development. The evidence-based learning program brings together families and professionals around a shared understanding of behavior.

Through practical weekly sessions grounded in behavioral science, participants learn how to better understand why behaviors occur, create supportive environments, and teach meaningful skills that improve everyday life.

Each session explores one essential topic using clear language, real-life examples, and practical strategies that can be applied at home, in schools, early childhood settings, and across the community.

Rather than offering quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions, FCTU™ helps participants develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to support children with consistency, compassion, and evidence-based practices.

A Whole Circle
of Care

When a child shows signs of developmental differences, the process of understanding what is happening can feel uncertain and overwhelming. Parents, caregivers, preschool teachers, and therapists all play a vital role in this journey. This program is designed to support that entire circle of care, offering an evidence-based and compassionate approach that builds clarity, skills, and confidence to move forward together.

If You Ever Thought…

  • Why is this behavior happening?

  • Nothing seems to work, no matter what I try.

  • I feel like I'm constantly putting out fires.

  • I wish someone could explain what's going on.

You are not dealing with failure. You are missing a shared roadmap.

    What You Will Learn

    • Understanding the why

      WEEK 01

Start making sense of behavior. Learn what is actually driving it and why understanding the function behind behavior changes everything.

    • Setting the stage for success

      WEEK 02

Small changes to the environment can have a big impact. Predictable routines, clear expectations, and supportive environments help children feel safe, regulated, and ready to succeed.

    • Catching the good

      WEEK 03

One of the most powerful tools for influencing behavior is attention. Learn how to use it intentionally to strengthen positive behaviors and build meaningful connections.

    • Getting from no to go

      WEEK 04

Struggles around requests, transitions, and expectations can be challenging for everyone involved. This week provides practical, evidence-based strategies to increase cooperation and reduce conflict.

    • When less is more

      WEEK 05

Sometimes the most effective response is not the most obvious one. Learn when stepping back strategically can reduce challenging behaviors and create better outcomes.

    • Beyond words

      WEEK 06

Behavior is communication. Discover how challenging behaviors often serve a purpose and learn strategies to support more effective and appropriate ways of communicating needs.

    • Small steps, big wins

      WEEK 07

Teaching new skills doesn't have to feel overwhelming. Learn how to break complex tasks into achievable steps that build confidence, independence, and long-term success.

    • Putting it all together

      WEEK 08

Bring everything together into a practical action plan tailored to the child's unique strengths, needs, and everyday environments, one that can be implemented and sustained long after the program ends.
